Joyce M. Magnus, nee Dodd, age 80, of 4526 East Lake Road, Geneva passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017 after a long and courageous battle.
The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30am on Friday, October 20, 2017 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1072 Route 96, Waterloo, NY. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 11:30, at Kingdom Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those wishing to make a contribution in Joyce's memory to kindly consider the American Cancer Society,1120 South Goodman St, Rochester, NY 14620.
Joyce was born on May 26, 1937 in North Fenton, NY. Joyce was one of Jehovah❜s Witnesses, and was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and friend to all she met.
Joyce is survived by her four children, Penny Magnus of Berkshire, Richard Magnus of Huntington, Debra (Rey) Valdez of Oakwood, GA, and Steve Magnus of Glen Aubrey; her five grandchildren, Andrew Smetana, Nicholas (Rachel) Smetana, Allison (Daniel)Turner, Abigail Valdez (Andrew) and Keenan Valdez; a sister, Irene Cole of Windsor; three great grandchildren, Lucille Turner, Ryan Smetana and Magnus Smetana; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, three brothers and two sister-in-laws, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Magnus; and a daughter, Linda Magnus.
The family would like to thank the wonderful compassionate care given Joyce by the doctors, nurses and staff affiliated with Interlakes Oncology, the Wilmot Cancer Center, Sands Cancer Center, and the University of Rochester Hospital. Also many thanks to Joyce❜s friends who gave her great comfort and encouragement throughout her illness. Your cards and calls and visits meant a great deal to her.
