M. Esguerra Ryan

Ryan Marley Esguerra, age 23, of Ovid, passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2017 in Chicago surrounded by his family.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street, Ovid. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm at the Ovid Federated Church, 7137 Main Street, Ovid. In Ryan❜s memory, the family asks that you consider making a donation in his memory to the South Seneca School Campus Beautification Fund, 7263 Main Street, Ovid, NY 14521.

Ryan was born on May 20, 1994 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a son to David and Kara (Bennett) Landon. From a young age, Ryan❜s personality bloomed and he touched the hearts and lives of many throughout his short life. While attending South Seneca Ryan was a talented athlete excelling at football, basketball, and track. He graduated in 2012 and was honored as Homecoming King, awarded Best Smile, and received the first ever Coach Guinan Award.

Motivated to succeed and fulfill his hopes and dreams, Ryan attended Buffalo State, earning his Bachelor❜s Degree in Journalism last year. He moved to Chicago to pursue his dreams in journalism and was currently writing for several local papers in the Chicago area. He recently worked at Starcom Mediavest Group in downtown Chicago. He was also a newsroom intern at WIVB TV Channel 4 in Buffalo. He was former customer service representative at Liaison International.

Throughout Ryan❜s successes, he motivated and encouraged everyone around him to be the best person they could be. Music and dancing were two of Ryan❜s passions and he was the first to dance as soon as the music started. His charismatic attitude and daily reminders of ‶You Got This″ will be deeply missed.

Ryan is survived by his parents, David and Kara Landon; sister, Kaylee Landon; brother, James Madison; grandparents, Loretta and Bart Landon and Juanita and Tom Staples; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Marie Bennett; and an aunt, April May Hodge.
