M. Wheeler Susan

Susan Mae Wheeler of 4024 Seneca Rd Hector, NY passed away on March 4th, 2018 after an extended illness. She was born on February 13, 1952 in Ithaca, NY and grew up in nearby Jacksonville with parents Jay and Phyllis Wheeler and her two siblings.

Susan graduated from Trumansburg Central School in 1970, and later attended Empire State College and received her MSW from Marywood University. She was employed as a LMSW by Seneca County and South Seneca School District and was passionate about her work with children and families. Susan was a "people-person" -devoted to her family, adored by her grandchildren and always eager to host picnics, holiday celebrations, graduation parties and even a wedding in her back yard. These were her shining moments with the people she loved most.

Susan was predeceased by her parents, Jay and Phyllis Wheeler. She is survived by Charles Hendry, her loving companion of 32 years; her devoted sons Charles Haviland of Hector and Chad Haviland (Jessica Elliott) of Interlaken; grandchildren Brittany Haviland (Justin Guerin) of Cortland, Samantha Giles (Michael) of Virginia Beach, Mathew and Heather Haviland of Lodi; daughter-in-law Nickie Haviland of Lodi; sister Cindy Lilly (Tom) of Ithaca and brother Charles Wheeler of Hector; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two faithful dogs, Jazzy and Peaches.

A celebration of life for Susan will be held on Friday, March 9th at the Lodi Rod and Gun Club, 9382 County Road 137, from 4-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring her memory with a contribution to the United Way of Seneca County, PO Box 623, Waterloo, NY 13165.
