Marie E. (Chartrand) Roloson

November 10, 1948 — July 28, 2024

Interlaken

Marie E. Roloson, age 75, of Interlaken passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday July 28, 2024.

A funeral mass will be held 10:30am on Friday, August 9, 2024 at St Francis Solanus Catholic Church, 3660 Orchard St, Interlaken. A private burial will follow at NYS Veteran’s Cemetery in Romulus.

Marie was born in Harrisville, NY in her family home on November 10, 1948.  She grew up with many happy memories of her parents, siblings, and extended family.  She received her early education from Harrisville Central Schools.  She then attended SUNY Brockport, where she met the love of her life, James.  They wed August 17, 1968 while James was on leave from the US Army, eventually serving in Vietnam.  They made their home in Interlaken, NY where they raised their four children with love and laughter.  Marie went back to college at SUNY Cortland where she completed her master’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education, finishing second in her class.  She taught for the entirety of her career at South Seneca Elementary School.  She treasured her time working with the youth.  In her years in Interlaken, she cultivated many close friendships and felt lucky to have so many friends and neighbors.  She was an active parishioner at St Francis Solanus Church. Marie enjoyed swimming, walking beaches looking for treasures, and watching the beauty and activity of shorelines.  She loved gardening, baking, crocheting, knitting, and quilting, often making homemade gifts for all her loved ones or simply to cheer someone up.  She wrote five family genealogy books to capture lineage, pictures, documents, and anecdotal stories for her entire family to enjoy.  She cherished her time with her husband and traveling to new places and adventures by his side.  She was most proud of her children and all of her grandchildren.  Marie had an infectious smile and laugh.  She found joy in the everyday and simplest beauties, choosing to spread it to all that knew her.

Marie is survived by her loving husband, James Roloson; her children Edward (Charlene) Roloson, Donna (Darryl) Gold, John (Debra) Roloson, Anne-Marie (Jason) Williams; grandchildren Jasmine and Julia Gold, Emily and Kylie Roloson, Hannah and Ty Roloson, and Gabriella, Matthew, and Annabelle Williams; siblings Dian (Gene) Mealus, Timothy (Lucie) Chartrand, Rick (Julie) Chartrand; sister in law, Sherry Chartrand; brother-in-law Bruce Roloson; aunts Lou Green and Betty Lou Mullen; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Edward and Beatrice (nee Cring) Chartrand; stepmother Myrtle Chartrand, and brothers Stephen and Dennis Chartrand.
