Neal Malcolm Updike, age 69, died at Rochester General Hospital on Saturday, November 20, 2021.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00pm on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid. Prayers of committal will be held privately for family at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the National FFA Foundation 6060 FFA Dr. P.O. Box 68960 Indianapolis, IN 46268-0960 in Neal’s memory.

Neal was born in Seneca Falls, on March 11, 1952, a son of the late Malcolm and Patricia (Ike) Updike. He was a graduate of South Seneca High School class of 1971. He worked for many years as a truck driver and snowplow operator for NYS DOT, but his true passion was sports and music. An avid attender of concerts and collector of vinyl. Neal shared his passions with the ones he loved. Attending many sporting events for nieces, nephews and grandchildren. An Interlaken native who took pride in his community, his property, his school and his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Holly (Derek Steinruck) Pierce; grandchildren, Jacob Pierce, Brenna Pierce and Wyatt Steinruck; his longtime partner Sue Hallock and her daughters Kari (Tim) Martin and Brittany Hallock ; his siblings, Cindy (Todd) Allen, Ross (Tracy) Updike, Dale (Karen) Updike, Kim Minges and Karla (Dan) Golden; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his infant granddaughter Raelynn Steinruck.
