Nelda J. MacDonald

Nelda J. MacDonald, age 82, of Romulus passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Geneva General Hospital.

In keeping with Nelda’s wishes there will be no formal services. A Celebration of her Life will be announced at a later date.

Nelda was born in Ithaca on November 13, 1942, a daughter of the late George and Hazel (Rosbaugh) VanVleet. She graduated from Interlaken High School in 1960 and obtained her LPN degree in 1966. Nelda began working at Willard Psychiatric Center and retired in 1995 from Elmira Psychiatric Center.

She enjoyed sewing, music, and square dancing. Most of all, she loved her family unconditionally and her happiest memories were those spent with family.

Nelda is survived by her two sons, Michael (Sally) Arnold and G. Steven MacDonald; her two beloved grandsons, Jared (Ashley) Arnold and Jacob Arnold (Larisa); one great grandson, Arlo Arnold; three brothers, Frank, Dana, and Carl VanVleet; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, George MacDonald; and siblings, Mary Morrow, Doug VanVleet, and Clair VanVleet.
