Nye Sherri

Sherri Nye, age 57, of 9320 County Road 137, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 after a short battle with cancer. The family will be present on Saturday, July 14th for visitation at Covert Funeral Home from 10:00am to Noon for a time of sharing and remembrance. Interment will be held privately at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken. Memorial contributions can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Sherri was born in Waterloo on November 5, 1960, a daughter of Charles and Patricia (Rozelle) Knapp. She graduated from Trumansburg High School and has long been a ‶child whisperer″ enjoying children of all ages while providing day care at Cady Stanton, Franziska Racker Center and most recently the Trumansburg After School Program. She also worked at South Seneca Central School in food service.

She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Frank of Lodi; her children, Crystal McLaughlin of Lodi and Michael McLaughlin II of Willard, her stepchildren, Beth Nye of Interlaken, and Mason Nye of Lodi and Frank❜s stepson Tim Jones; 7 adored grandchildren Amya, Trey, Nevaya, Cata, Alera, Alannah and Dominic; her siblings, Don (Linda) Eva of Interlaken, Michael Knapp of Freeville, Karen Knapp of Lindley and Marsha (Don) Covert of Ovid; her father, Charles Knapp of Lake Alfred, FL; and a large extended family with many nieces and nephews. Sherri was preceded in death by her mother Patricia Knapp, her birth father, Ronald Eva, and a sister in law, Cheri Knapp.
