R. Stevens Karl

Karl R. Stevens, age 78, of 3344 Munson Road, passed away at Geneva General Hospital, with his daughters by his side, on Saturday, June 30, 2018.

The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street in Ovid, from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday, July 5, 2018. A Graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, July 6th at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken, with Rev, Rob Mellgard of the Ovid Federated Church officiating. Karl was born in Seneca Falls, NY on October 13, 1939, a son of the late Earl and Helen (Tupala) Stevens. He was a 1958 graduate of Interlaken High School, where he had been a member of the FFA. He was a lifelong farmer, and when he sold off his dairy herd nearly 20 years ago, he continued in raising beef cattle. He had a passion for antique tractors and every year looked forward to attending the Pageant of Steam in Canandaigua.

He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly (Joe Keeler) Stevens-Minges of Ovid, Karla (Daniel) Golden of Trumansburg; his granddaughters, Bree and Bailey Minges and Zoe Golden; his brother, Robert Stevens of Willard; his step children, Neal Updike, Ross (Tracy) Updike, Cindy (Todd) Allen, and Dale (Karen) Updike, his longtime friend, Bonnie Schlappi of Interlaken, and his close friends, Elam and Mary Stoltzfus and their family. Karl was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Updike Stevens and by a sister, Betty Brace, and by his sister in law, Linda Stevens.
