William R. Clark, age 92, formerly of Ovid, passed away at his home in Port St. Lucie, FL under hospice care on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00pm on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 South Main Street in Ovid. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Ovid, prayers of committal with military honors will be held at St. Columbkille Cemetery in Seneca Falls. Bill was born in Seneca Falls on November 19, 1923, the son of Charles R. and Martha (McGraw) Clark. He graduated from Romulus Central School and attended Western Maryland College. He served in the US Army during WWII in the 84th Infantry Railsplitters, and was held as a POW for 6 months, returning home with the rank of Sergeant in 1945. Bill had a long career in banking, serving as a bank director at First National Bank of Ovid, and then director and president of Glen National Bank in Watkins Glen, a career spanning from 1947 to 1983. He was very active in his community, as Ovid Fire Chief, Ovid Central School Board Member, Ovid Village Trustee, and a member of the Watkins Rotary and Elks Clubs. In 1984, he and his wife, Jane, retired to Port St. Lucie, Florida. They spent considerable time with their daughters in Pennsylvania and Ohio, enjoying precious time with family and friends.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Karen (Don) Alexander of Jersey Shore, PA and Joan (Rick) Tower of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, sister, Janice Scarrott of Romulus and 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jane in 2008 and by his sister, Margaret Crane in 1960.
