Raymond L. Preston Sr., of 13 Keli Drive in Waterloo, passed away peacefully at his home in the early hours of Monday, December 7, 2015.
A graveside service will be held privately at Mount Green Cemetery in Romulus.

Ray was born on January 17, 1933 in Howard, New York, a son of the late Lester and Georgetta (Hooey) Preston. He graduated from Romulus High School in 1952, and married his high school classmate and sweetheart, Madaline Hilkert on May 23, 1953. Ray was a rural mail carrier for the Romulus Post office for over 30 years, retiring in 1991, and had worked at Willard Psychiatric Center, Sampson State School, and Hutchings Psychiactric Center, retiring as chief of safety, with a total of 27 years of state service. Ray was an avid bowler, stock car driver, and always followed racing. He had been an active member of the Romulus Fire Department for many years, and had served as a member of the Romulus Central School Board. He truly enjoyed his retirement years, golfing and meticulously maintaining his home and lawns, along with all of the other pleasures of retirement after so many years of hard work, including wintering in North Fort Myers, Florida since 2004. Ray was a proud and loving husband, father and grandfather, affectionately known to his family as ‶Papa″
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Madaline; his sons, Raymond (Becky) Preston of Romulus, Brian (Barb) Preston of Waterloo; grandchildren, Christopher (Lindsay) Preston of Elbridge, NY, Heather (Jeff) Carson of Canandaigua, Jonathan Preston of Romulus, Ethan Preston of Virginia Beach, VA and a step son, Eric (Megan) Coryell of Waterloo; and great grandchildren, Emelia and Everett Preston, Sawyer and Kennedy Carson, Aidan, Dominic and Savannah Coryell; his brothers, Robert (Una) Preston of Corning and William (M.E.) Preston of Brooksville, FL, and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rachel Jackson.
