Robert L. Kelly

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Robert L. Kelly, age 60 our beloved son, brother, family member and friend passed on Saturday, September 4, 2021, while in the hospital. Those who knew him, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

Rob will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Leon and Donalie (Rosa) Kelly, of Ovid; his siblings, Warren (Michelle) Kelly of Hudson Falls, NY, Colleen (Keith) Stannard  and Diane Kelly, all  of Ovid; his nephews, Jason Kelly, Daniel Kelly, and Jared Pratt; his niece, Leah Pratt; and numerous other family members, his church-family, and friends.

Bob graduated from South Seneca Central School in 1980 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He later earned his master’s degree from Johns Hopkins while working for the National Security Agency for 34 years, until his retirement in 2016.

He was one of the most generous, patient, spiritual & intelligent people we have ever known. We will miss him more than even he would have suspected. He was a kind and gentle soul, anyone who knew him was touched by his kindness, humor and mild temperament.

We will be having a “come as you are” gathering to remember Robert L Kelly. We will be gathering at the Ovid Union Cemetery at 2 pm on Sunday, September 26, 2021, for a brief graveside memorial and then heading to the Ovid Village Pavilion (behind the new firehouse). We will toast to Robert / Rob / Bob while we share memories, photos and food. Please join us.

Those feeling the need to bring something, bring non-perishable items for a food bank or donate at your local organization. Bob was deeply engaged to the Maryland Food Bank, donating time, funds & food items.
