OVID-Robert E. Stevens, age 86, longtime resident of Willard, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lakeland, FL on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
Bob was born in Seneca Falls on March 16, 1938, a son of the late Henry and Helen Stevens. Upon completion of high school, he joined the US Navy and proudly served his country from 1957-1961. Bob had a long career at Borg-Warner in Ithaca as a lab technician and machinist. In 1985 he married Linda Crane, and after their retirement, they wintered in Lakeland, Florida. Bob was a member of the Ovid American Legion Post #463 and the Interlaken Sportsmen’s Club.
He is survived by his children, Shera (Gordon) Marshall of Lakeland, FL, Thomas (Brenda) Stevens of Minot, ND; his grandchildren, Steffanie Messmer, Scott (Britni) Marshall, Kayla and Talon Stevens and great grandchildren, Isabella, Mark, and Sofia Messmer, Chelsea Grosz; his stepsons, Darryl Crane of Willard, Gary Teeter of PA and nieces Kim Minges, Karla Golden, nephew Kyle Brace and their families. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Linda in 2018, and by his brother Karl (Patricia) sister, Betty (Terry) Brace; a nephew, Kerry Brace, and stepsons, William Teeter, and Christopher Crane
The family will receive friends from Noon to 2:00 pm on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid. A graveside service with military honors will then be held at 2:30pm at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken on the same day. Kindly consider a donation in Bob’s memory to Ovid American Legion or Interlaken Sportsmen’s Club in lieu of flowers.
