Ruth L. Wilson, a ge 100, previously of Geneva and Ovid, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
Ruth was born on July 6, 1920 in Phelps, NY, a daughter of the late Lewis and Lillian Frind. Ruth married Hayes Wilson in April 1943 and moved to Boise, Idaho due to Hayes’s military service. They moved back to New York in 1945, and settled in Ovid. Ruth worked at Ovid Central School and then with Dr. Brownell Dentistry, and Willard Psychiatric Center. After retirement, she returned to the dentist office for an additional ten years. After the death of her husband, she moved to Geneva in 2002; where she volunteered at Geneva General Hospital, Smith Opera House, and The American Red Cross. She moved to Watkins Glen in 2015.
Ruth is survived by her two children, Charles (Cristine) Wilson of Lexington, Kentucky, Patricia (Robert) Spencer of Watkins Glen; grandchildren Michael Wilson of Lexington, Kentucky, Erin (Chris) Balga of Harrisburg, North Carolina, James (Kendra) Spencer of Watkins Glen; four great grandchildren, Adelyn, John, Graham, and Ella; sister in law Ruth Frind of Alloway, New York, Lorraine Wilson of North Rose, New York; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Hayes; her brother William & his wife Christine; her sister Eunice & her husband Charles; her brother John, and grandchildren, Kelly Ann Wilson, and Dana Spencer Carr.
A private burial service will take place to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those who would like to make a contribution in Ruth’s memory to consider the American Red Cross, or a charity of your choosing.
