Shaner Vanvleet Helene

Helene Shaner VanVleet, age 85, of Lodi, New York passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 3, 2018.

The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00am on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Ovid Federated Church, 7137 Main Street, Ovid, New York. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 11:00am at the church, officiated by Rev. Rob Mellgard. The family will host a reception at the church following the service. Helene was born in Olean, New York on June 15, 1933, a daughter of the late Howard and Olive (Buckhout) Shaner. She was the Chief Financial Officer of Tommy Creek Farm in Lodi for many years. Helene was active in her community serving as a civic leader in the Lodi and Ovid communities. She was also active in The Seneca County Farm Bureau for many years.

Helene is survived by her husband, Stanley VanVleet; two daughers, Lyn Maxson and Marcia Maxson; eight step children; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Helene was preceded in death by her sister, Candace Shaner Hackett.
