Shirley J. (Root) Hubbell

Shirley Joyce Root Hubbell passed peacefully at home on Harvey Hill Road on June 1, 2022.

Shirley was born in Ithaca on January 20, 1929, the daughter of Otis and Genevie Root, and graduated from Ithaca High School in 1948. Shirley is best remembered for her career as an AKC professional dog handler that spanned a period of over sixty years. She is survived by her loving husband Charles S. Hubbell of 65 years and together they raised three children, Bonnie Griffin, Linda Crombie and Thomas Hubbell, including 3 grandchildren, Kirk, Kelly, Christopher and 5 great grandchildren, Rowan, Benjamin, Killian, Genevieve and Jackson.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00pm at Enfield Christian Cemetery to honor both Charles "Chuck" and Shirley J. Hubbell. A Celebration of both of their lives will immediately follow at the Enfield Grange until 5:00.
