Stanley Conroy, age 71, of Grove Road, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 2, 2022.
Stan was born in Schuyler County on December 29, 1950, a son of the late William H. and Lena M. (Miller) Conroy. He left school early to help support the family after the sudden death of his father, and spent his entire working career as a self-employed mason. He and his wife Jane started their family in Enfield and then moved to the Trumansburg area in 1980 where Stan built their “home on the hill”. Stan was a hard worker, skilled carpenter, and avid outdoorsman. He had a special place in his heart for all animals and took great care of any that crossed his path. Stan was well known for his witty sense of humor, entertaining stories, and calm demeanor. Those who know his children and grandchildren know Stan’s legacy lives on.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jane; his sons, William (Pauline) of Trumansburg and Stephen (Amy) of Beaver Dams; grandchildren, Sierra, Jason, Andrew, Mallorie and Emily; great grandchildren, Tanner, Annalee, Rohan, Lily, Maelie, Luna, Luke and Angel; and siblings, Dale Conroy, Sharon VanNeil, Patsy Cooper and their extended families. Stan was preceded in death by his son, Justin in 2016 and by a brother, Roger.
The family will host a time of remembrance and gathering of friends from 2:00 to 5:00 on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Trumansburg American Legion. Kindly consider a donation in Stan’s memory to The Humane Society of Schuyler County, PO Box 427, Montour Falls, NY 14865 or visit www.schuylerhumane.org.
