J. Stuart Morgan, age 86, of Skinner Road in Lodi and former longtime resident of McDuffietown went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, October 17, 2016, peacefully after a brief illness at Geneva General Hospital.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 22, 2016, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Finger Lakes Baptist Church. A funeral service will then be held at 11:00am, officiated by Pastors Barry Somerville and David Korecki, prayers of committal will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in McDuffietown. Stuart was born in Endicott, NY on September 2, 1930, a son of the late Ray and Mable (Strope) Morgan. Stu graduated from high school in Candor, NY in 1948 and made his way to McDuffietown. As avid athlete, Stu played town team basketball for Romulus, and fast pitch softball in Magee, Canoga and Romulus. Throughout his life, he was a #1 fan of Syracuse basketball and the Buffalo Bills. He had been employed by Sylvania/Phillips in Seneca Falls for over 40 years, his friends and co-workers knew him as Jim. He had a variety of job positions over his career, and was often the ‶go-to″maintenance and repairman. Upon his retirement, he and his wife wintered in Mesa, Arizona. Stu was a devout Christian and found great comfort in his relationship with God and his longtime association with Finger Lakes Baptist Church and was instrumental in starting the church.
He is survived by his son, James S. (Tina) Morgan Jr. of Lodi; a daughter, Christine (David) Korecki of Mesa, Arizona, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; his sisters and brothers in law, Mable and Frank, Millie and Warren and Marjorie. Stu was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice and by brothers, Clarence, Ray and Clifford.
