Virginia L. Standish-McLaughlin, age 80, longtime resident of Baptist Church Road, passed away at her home on January 1, 2024.
Virginia was born in Dunbar, West Virginia on August 14, 1943, a daughter of the late Earl and Merle Harris. After moving to Pennsylvania and then New York, she had a long career at Willard Psychiatric Center as a therapy aide. With her husband of nearly 40 years, George Standish she enjoyed gardening and stock car racing, along with hosting her family for events and parties. Later in life, she became an active member of Ovid Federated Church, participating in many activities there as well.
She is survived by her children; Logan Goldinger II, Helen (Robert) Berdell all of Ovid and Dixie (Allen) Harder of Richford, her grandchildren; William DuBrock, Caitlin Beaston, Amber Sawyer, Ashley Blystone, Felicia Riley and Wayne Woodard Jr., along with many great grandchildren and the extended Standish family. Virginia was preceded in death by her husbands, George Standish and Patrick McLaughlin and by the father of her children, Logan Goldinger, her granddaughter, Kayla Woodard and by her siblings.
The family will receive friends at Ovid Federated Church from 4:00 to 5:30pm on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. A memorial service will then be held at 5:30pm, officiated by Pastor Rob Mellgard. Kindly consider a donation in Virginia’s memory to Rochester Regional Hospice.
