Virginia "Ginny" (Roswell) Riegel

Seneca Falls

Virginia “Ginny” Roswell Riegel, age 86 of State Street, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

A ceremony will be held at NYS Veteran’s Cemetery in Romulus at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, with a reception to follow for family and friends at the Seneca Falls Country Club at 12:30pm. Kindly consider a donation in Ginny’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation www.parkinson.org.

Ginny was born in Oceanside, Long Island, New York on April 12, 1938 to Ralph and Jolan (nee Pastor) Roswell. She was a 1956 graduate of Oceanside High School and Wheelock College in Boston, MA in 1961, with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught in Wakefield, MA prior to her marriage to Dr. Fred Riegel in 1961. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She spent many years working as the office manager in her husband’s dental practice in Seneca Falls. She especially loved working with staff and continuing education. Ginny was a member and past president of The Women’s League of Seneca Falls, a volunteer for the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and volunteered in Rochester inner-city school system. She was a member of The Women’s Council of the Rochester Museum and Science Center. Together, Fred and Ginny enjoyed many years of ballroom dancing.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Fred Riegel of Seneca Falls; three sons, Ross of Mesa, AZ, Eric (Meri) of Romulus, Philip (Elise) of Suffield, CT; five grandchildren; Wyatt and Sage Riegel, Danielle (Tucker) MacIntosh, Vivian and Charles Riegel; an expectant great grandchild and a step great granddaughter, Alayna MacIntosh, and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Spogen of Rochester. Ginny was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Roswell and by her brother-in-law, Frederick Spogen.

Mourn not too long that she is gone, but rejoice that she was.
