W. Aman Max

d. December 8, 2017

Max W. Aman, age 81, longtime resident of Interlaken, passed away at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls on Friday, December 8, 2017.

A Memorial Service to commemorate Max❜s life will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Interlaken Reformed Church, 8315 North Main Street. Friends and family are also invited to attend a reception, hosted at the Interlaken Sportsmen❜s Club, 8561 Tunison Road, beginning at 4:00pm on the same day.

Max was born on March 17, 1936 in Berkshire, NY, a son of the late Delbert W. and Ulta V. (Bible) Aman. He graduated from Candor High School and was married to Emily M. Slater in 1956. He continued to work on the family farm there until purchasing a farm on Townline Road in 1961, starting with ‶40 cows and a full mortgage″. The farm expanded to Bassette Road in the early 70❜s followed by an inevitable move in residence to Bassette Road by the family. The dairy continued into the early 80❜s at which point Max and Emily sold the cows but continued to crop farm. Maxam Trucking started as a business trucking grain then expanded to include other commodities, eventually leading to hauling boats and canoes as a semi-retirement job that allowed Max and Emily to travel to all four corners of the United States and parts of Canada. Aman Farms continued to grow into a cash crop enterprise that continues Max❜s legacy and commitment to the Interlaken and surrounding communities.

Max had a gift with people, and never met anyone that he didn❜t think was a good person in their own way. This gift of listening and learning about the people he met every day led to lifelong relationships around the country. Max loved to follow racing, be it go-carts, modified cars or WYNOA Quads, athletics at any level, dancing, and he had a passion for flying. He supported anything his family was involved in taking great pride in his children and grandchildren. Emily was the love of his life and he was not afraid to tell everyone how much he loved her.

Max is survived by his wife of 61 years, Emily; his children, Todd (Diane) Aman of Poughkeepsie, Michelle (Al) Varian of Interlaken, Christopher (Lisa) Aman, of Easley, SC, Eric (Kelly) Aman of Interlaken, Colette Furman of Horseheads, Bryce (Jackie) Aman, of Interlaken; his grandchildren, Jerusha, Ricardo, Jordan, Corey, Gabe, Joel, Heather, Kevin, Shawn, Brian, Bradley, Sam, Summer and Ira; great grandchildren, Kaylee, Brock and Ethan; and his siblings, Gerard, Robert and Douglas Aman and Virginia Holmes and by a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility for the care provided to Max. We would encourage those who have it in their heart to make a donation to benefit future residents at the nursing home to send a donation in memory of Max to Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility, Patient Activities Fund, 220 Steuben Street, Montour Falls, NY 14865.
