W. Walborn Paul Jr.

Paul W. Walborn Jr., 59, of Port Byron died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00pm on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street, Ovid. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will immediately follow at the funeral home at 6:00pm.

Paul was born in Geneva on December 22, 1957, the son of Norma Grant and Paul Sr and Kareen Walborn. Paul enjoyed bowling and playing cards at family reunions. He was an avid NASCAR fan, always cheering for Rusty Wallace and The Deuce, and also a Giants fan. With hard work and dedication, Paul overcame the many obstacles he faced after a stroke. He went from watching NASCAR to actually racing his own Blue Deuce at RC car races. Paul won several trophies and awards during his racing career. His times at the racetrack became not just a hobby, but a large part of his life. We would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the entire RC racing community for making Paul a part of their family.

Paul is survived by his mother, Norma Grant; two children, Heather Staples and Shane Walborn; grandchildren, Marcus, Mellakii, Sofia, Abel, Dayton, and Shane Jr.; siblings, Linda (Floyd) Bush, Scott (Deanna) Walborn, Lisa Mason, Mark (Tamara) Walborn, Mary (Lee) Henry, and Linda (Ed) Robertson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and step mother, Paul and Kareen Walborn; and his brother, Blake Grant.
