Howard E. “Windy” Gable, age 83, lifetime resident of the Ovid area, died on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Geneva Living Center following a long struggle from Parkinson’s disease.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00pm on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid. Prayers of committal will be held privately at Oak Hill Cemetery in McDuffietown.
Windy was born in Seneca Falls on January 27, 1939, a son of the late Elmer and Della (née Deal) Gable. He was a graduate of Romulus High School, and worked at the power plant of Willard Psychiatric Center for many years before starting W&W Construction with his friend, Larry Westervelt. Windy was a member of the South Seneca Sportsman’s Club and for decades, a regular patron of the Ovid diner.
He is survived by his children; Howard E. (Kristy) Gable of Ovid, Samantha C. (Jonathan) Benjamin of Anniston, AL and Debbie Bardine of Willard, his grandchildren; Chelsea Feligno, Cierra Gable, Jaxson and Landon Benjamin, Andrea (Wayne) Hill and 6 great grandchildren, his siblings; Ralph of Michigan, Gordon (Linda) of Florida and Janet (Bill) Goff of Florida. Windy was preceded in death by his brother, Robert and his granddaughter’s husband, Johnny Feligno.
