Paul “Jerry” Westervelt, age 77, of Lakeshore Landing in Romulus, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022 with his wife and son at his side.
Born in Seneca Falls on March 10, 1945, a son of the late Paul and Arleta (nee Swanson) Westervelt. Jerry was a 1962 graduate of Ovid High School and had already begun his 38 year career at Willard State Hospital. Jerry was married to JoAnn Hurd on June 12, 1965. He retired as the power plant superintendent at Willard Psychiatric Center and Willard DTC. He was the owner of Countryside Taxidermy in Lodi for many years, and his lifetime passion was hunting and fishing, which he now passes on to his beloved grandsons. He was a past member and officer of the Lodi Rod & Gun Club and a member of the MacDougall Sportsman’s Club and spent a lifetime preserving the quality of outdoorsmanship in the area.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, JoAnn; his son Josh and grandsons, Ethan and Blake – which were his pride and joy- all of Romulus; his siblings, Judy (Larry) Poth of Lodi and Rudy (Karyn) Westervelt of California, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. A Memorial Service will then follow at 2:00 at the funeral home.
