Rachel A. (Tagliavento) Jacobsen

December 29, 1959 — September 21, 2022

Ithaca

Rachel A. Tagliavento Jacobsen, of Enfield, passed away peacefully at her home following a brief battle of Cancer, surrounded by her family on September 21, 2022. Born in Ithaca on December 29, 1959, Rachel was the only daughter of Joseph and Betty Lee (nee Moore) Tagliavento Sr.  After her graduation from Ithaca High School, Rachel had a long work history in the Ithaca area; an administrative assistant at the Tompkins County Hospital, the Ithaca City School District and then spent several years as an administrative clerk in code enforcement and zoning for the Town of Lansing, Rachel loved to travel, especially to the beach, scratch off tickets and the occasional trip to local casinos. Rachel always enjoyed the early mornings with a cup of Tim Hortons Coffee (her absolute favorite), but her passion was being surrounded by her family.  She loved to cook and feed everyone, and always withheld one key ingredient when friends or family asked for her recipe. After the sudden passing of her husband and love of her life, David, in 2013, Rachel found even more joy in treasuring the time well spent with her family. Rachel is survived by her sons; Andrew E. (Kirsly Bisgrove) of Ithaca, Daniel B. (Heather) of Interlaken; her adored grandchildren, Ryan Anders Jacobsen, Carmella Bordoni Jacobsen, David Bristol Jacobsen, brothers; Joseph (Agnes) Tagliavento Jr. and Jack (Sheila) Tagliavento, all of Ithaca, her mother; Betty of Ithaca and many loved cousins, notably Patricia Gerace, nieces and nephews, along with her best friend, Becky Bush. She was preceded in death by her father and husband.

At Rachel’s request, there will be no services, think of her fondly the next time a favorite oldie song comes on the radio or scratching off a lotto ticket share a smile with her.  Kindly consider a donation in her memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, the Ithaca VFW (of which she and David had been members) or any local animal shelter. Covert Funeral Home of Ovid has assisted the family with arrangements, for additional information, please visit www.covertfuneralhome.com
